Research grants for continence care

To support research that advances understanding and care of people affected by continence issues, we have launched CHARG – the Continence Health Australia Research Grant.

CHARG provides funding for high-quality research initiatives that help build evidence for best continence care. Supported projects will improve understanding, management and delivery of continence care.

Applications for this annual initiative are open from 14 September 2026 until 5.00pm AEST on 30 October 2026.

Up to 3 grants of $25,000 each will be available. Funding can be used over a maximum period of 2 years.

Goals of the grant

We developed this grant in response to identified needs and feedback from researchers and clinicians.

CHARG aims to:

• strengthen the evidence base with research that has clear relevance to practice, policy and the lived experience of people affected by continence issues
• support emerging and early-career researchers across Australia.

What the grant can be used for

This program provides seed funding for quality initiatives – small studies and early-career research that:

• advances understanding and science related to continence
• builds evidence and supports improved continence care

Successful projects will have clear potential for impact and may include pilot studies, preliminary investigations or early-stage research.

Eligibility

The grant is open to:

• Continence Health Australia members
• Researchers and academics working in continence and related fields
• Clinicians and health professionals with an interest in continence research.
