Clinical content review process

How we ensure content is clinically accurate and based on evidence.

Continence Health Australia maintains a clinical review protocol for website content. This protocol ensures that all information published online is accurate, evidence based and accessible.

All website content containing clinical information is reviewed and approved by at least 2 health professionals with expertise in continence health from different disciplines, reflecting our multidisciplinary approach.

A health professional is defined as a currently registered practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Clinical reviewers include:

  • doctors
  • nurses such as nurse continence specialists
  • occupational therapists
  • pharmacists
  • physiotherapists
  • medical specialists
  • psychologists.

The mix of reviewers is determined by the nature of the content.

Additionally, content is reviewed by relevant lived experience experts to ensure it is accessible and fit for purpose.

Content is written for a grade 6 to 7 literacy and health literacy level to ensure clarity and accessibility. Messaging is designed to support informed decision-making, reduce stigma and encourage confidence in seeking support.
