The most recent Every Body's Business health professional forum was held in Brisbane at the Mercure Hotel on Friday 6th August. The topic was 'Bowel Health' which coincided with the theme of Continence Awareness Week 2010. The day was a great success with over 200 people attending, for an engaging and energising program by some of Brisbane's most respected and knowledgable presenters.
Topics covered on the day included an introduction on healthy bowels - what's normal and what's not, a personal experience and emotional story on life with faecal incontinence - the road to recovery, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and the quality of life experiences after colorectal surgery. After lunch the program continued with the impact of radiation therapy and chemotherapy on bowel health, the management of a neurogenic bowel, and drugs and the bowel: treatments and culprits. The day concluded with take home practical tools for bowel screening, assessment and management.
