1 August 2010
It's Continence Awareness Week this week (1-7 August) and we're putting bowels in the spotlight. It's not exactly high on the list of things to talk about at a dinner party, but it is an important area of health for all of us.
This year, we urge people not to 'sit on a problem'. Signs such as constipation, straining, haemorrhoids or diarrhoea can indicate an underlying problem and it's better to seek advice sooner rather than later. If you think you're sitting on a problem, it's time to take action to improve your bowel health. Talk to your doctor, health professional or call the National Continence Helpline on freecall 1800 33 00 66.Visit our Continence Awareness Week page to find events in your local area and learn how you can get involved.
You can read more about bowel health here, or in our special Continence Awareness Week edition of Bridge magazine.
